Even during my first year as a teacher, I was put on the leadership team because I showed a tenacity for trying new things and then accepting important feedback afterwards. I didn't know what I was doing then, but I was honest, risk-taking and
kind to others when I noticed an improvement opportunity presented itself. This eventually grew into many different leadership roles over the years. The most important thing I've learned is that it's so important to actively listen to people when they need so desperately to be heard. Then asks questions rather than pass judgement. This allows for self reflection and self awareness rather than criticism and micromanagement. I often think of one of my favorite books... |
